Vintage Guerlain Meteorites Lipstick ~ Clarisonic Mia 2 ~ Clarisonic Vs. Olay Pro X Review ~ Vintage Compact Mirror

Happy Saturday Everyone :-)

Today's Lipstick of the Day is:
Guerlain Les Meteorites Rouge A Levres Rechargeable Refillable Lipstick in No. 27, Pivoine!

First of all, for all my regular readers, have you ever seen me so happy wearing a lipstick before?  The answer, is NO :)  The reason for that, is that this particular Guerlain collection was released in the 1980s, and discontinued (WTF) never to be seen again, except for the likes of good old Ebay, which is where I scored this lovely piece of beauty history!
When I scored this lovely still-in-the-box beautiful exceptional piece of lipstick history, I knew I hit the motherload!  I have sooo many lipsticks, and this, my friends, is the cream of the crop.  This package was never opened or used (except solely for the purposes for taking pictures for the Ebay auction) and it is in brand new condition.  The chances of finding something like this are slim to none!
I'm sure that when this was released, it was the status-quo must-have cosmetic item, and women most likely swooned.  No idea how much it cost at the time, but I'm sure it was a pretty penny.  From what I can dig up on the web, this particular collectoin (which I'm super obsessed with) came about in the 1980s, is plated in 18k gold, and has hand laid enamel, resembline Marie Antoinette's jewelry box...!  Seriously? Yes, SERIOUSLY.
When I first opened this, I was completely in awe.  it's in a velvet-lined box that resembles a jewelry box.  It also came with the velvet slipcase, and the original Guerlain Les Meteorites paperwork, outlining the entire collection.  This is absolutely my favorite, and one of my most prized pieces in my entire collection.  You would think that this would be a collector's item, and it most likely is...however you know that there's just no way that I could possibly keep this and not use it.  Honestly, I don't think I own a color that is more flattering on me.  Pivoine is a lovely neutral rose color with very fine micro rose shimmer.  The staying power is great, about 4 hours, and leaves a wonderful rosey stain on lips as it wears.  Here are some swatches, then I'll stop blabbing and move on, promise :)
For cryin out loud, I've never seen something so beautiful!!!

I WILL own the rest of this collection...just a matter of time!!!

Clarisonic Mia 2 Skin Cleansing Brush

I was really torn about purchasing this brush, however, after purchasing and using the Olay Pro-X face brush, and reading other reviews of people who have both, I couldn't resist!

I will do my own comparison of these two brushes, so that anyone interested in purchasing a facebrush can hopefully make an educated decision :) I did do a review of the Olay Pro-X brush a week or so ago, but I'll do another quick run-down in this post so that you can see both.

Let's start with how Clarisonic describes the Mia 2:

"It's time to think beyond the washcloth and elevate cleansing to a sonic level. Clarisonic's patented sonic technology gently removes the impurities traditional cleaning methods leave behind, cleansing six times better than your hands alone. In just 60 seconds, its sonic action removes impurities from pores so that creams, serums, and moisturizers are more effective. And with regular daily use you'll notice a reduction in dry patches, oily areas, and blemishes.
  • - 2 speeds for added cleansing customization
  • - Pulsing T-Timer for 60-second cleanse
  • - Improved user interface indicating speed and charge functions
  • - 2 year warranty
This set contains:
  • - Clarisonic Mia2 2 Speed Brush
  • - International pLink Charger for worldwide use
  • - Sensitive Brush Head
  • - 1 oz Refreshing Gel Cleanser
  • - Protective travel case
What else you need to know:
Clarisonic should be used as part of a daily skincare routine to provide skin that feels and looks smoother. It is ideal for all skin types. Used and recommended by leading dermatologists and cosmetic surgeons."

I've been using the Clarisonic Mia 2 for a little over a week, and I personally LOVE this brush, and I don't see myself ever going without this.  The 2 speed brush is set to a 60 second timer, and pulses each time you need to begin cleansing on a different area of your face.  This thing is no joke, and especially if you wear makeup everyday, it will do wonders for you.  I can't believe the difference it's made.

You have to use the Clarisonic with a GEL cleanser, it clearly says in the instructions to NOT use an exfoliating cleanser with this, and I don't see the need for it anyway, or intend to try.  The Clarisonic uses Sonic technology to deep clean, as opposed to the Olay Pro-X which is a rotating brush.  I prefer the Sonic technology, as I feel for me it is more effective, and gentler.  The brush also came with the sensitive brush-head, which I also feel is doing wonders for my skin.  I do have very sensitive skin :)
My makeup goes on and stays on better than ever after using the Clarisonic, and I noticed a huge difference after just one day of use.  My acne dark spots were fading, any blemishes that I did have (they were small) were diminishing.

The Clarisonic is rechargeable, and holds a charge for 24 uses before needing charging again.  The charger is really cool and magnetizes to the bottom of the front of the brush.  The Clarisonic Mia 2 is not cheap.  $149 to be exact, however, I had a 20% off coupon, and a $30 credit at Ulta, so I got mine for about $90. You can find these on Ebay too, you'd just need to purchase your own brush-head obviously :)

As for the Olay Pro-X...
The Olay Pro-X is also a good alternative face brush for those who don't feel like taking the plunge on the Clarisonic.  I used this for a solid 2 weeks, and it definitely made a HUGE difference in my skin, however, near the end of the 2nd week I started to get a few patches of irritated skin around my chin and jaw line.  I think this was "user error" and I was holding the brush too hard against my skin.

The Pro-X is a ROTATING brush, as opposed to a pulsating sonic cleanse, like the Clarisonic.  So, you have to take extra care with when using the Pro-X, and be sure to not use it for too long, because it does not run on a timer.  It feels really good using it, and is very easy to over-cleanse with this since there's nothing telling you to stop.  The Pro-X runs on 2 AA batteries, which come in the box upon purchase, as well as a sample of Olay's exfoliating cleanser.  Yes, they offer an exfoliating cleanser with this brush, which I would not recommend using with it.   I'd recommend your favorite GEL cleanser.  Some of my favorites are Cetaphil Daily Cleanser and Philosophy Purity Cleanser.  If you have super sensitive skin, Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser is also really great.

The Pro-X is much easier on the wallet, varying from about $22-$30.  It is very cheap on, so I'd recommend if you want to take a stab at the world of facial cleansing brushes, to give this one a 'go.

There are also manual facial brushes that you can get from Sephora and Ulta.  These are only as effective as the user themselves, and you'd have to be very sure to hold the brush flush to your skin, not push too hard while cleansing, and be sure not to over cleanse because then you're asking for trouble.
These are even cheaper at $6 a pop.

All in all I 100% recommend facial brushes.  They make the hugest difference, and absolutely have changed my life.  I get more compliments on my skin now than I ever have, and I can actually walk outside without makeup now and not feel completely hideous.  The tone, color, and clarity of my skin has changed dramatically over the last couple of weeks...I will never cleanse my face with just my hands again and I urge you to do the same! :)

I've always been in love with all things vintage, but in the past few weeks I've definitely leapt hard into the realm of vintage cosmetics, particularly, hand and compact mirrors!
I got this adorable, heavy antique compact mirror on Ebay for a steal, at about $12.  As you can see it's small, but it packs a punch!  It's really heavy, and doesn't fully clasp.  The design uses the compacts weight to keep it closed, until it's time for use.  It doesn't open all the way either, it opens to exactly the angle you need to look at yourself just perfectly.  The definition of super vanity LOL.

Ebay is a great place to find great vintage cosmetic finds for super cheap.  These compact mirrors are a great way to amp up your style, confidence and make you feel super duper pretty.

I'll leave you with this final thought...
Have a great weekend, stay foxxxy :-)

Sephora+Pantone Tangerine Tango Cream ~ Kat Von D Brush Set ~ Pantene Overnight Miracle Repair Serum

Today's Lipstick of the Day is...
Sephora + Pantone Universe Tangerine Tango Cream

This lovely lipstick was Pantone's Color of the Year 2012.  First thing that actually drew me to it was the packaging.  The lipstick itself is housed in a metal tube, covered by a magnetic white heavy metal cap.  The lipstick has a lot of weight to it, which is AWESOME.  I love weighty makeup stuff :)
The color itself turned me off at first, and I actually tried it on as a joke in Sephora to make my sister laugh.  I went up to her, made a dumb face and said something like "TANGERINE TANGOOO" with a bucktooth face...and we both laughed but then she said ".......Sher that actually looks really good...."   Low and behold, I looked in the mirror, to find that this orange creme color actually brightened my entire complexion, and gave a little life to my face :)

Naturally, I had to get it.  I think it was something like 9 dollars.  I'm not sure if Sephora still sells this, but I'm sure you can find it somewhere - Amazon, Ebay, etc. Here are some more swatches of Tangerine Tango Cream!
Love it!

Kat Von D Five Piece Brush Set!

I literally can't live without this.  I've used it every single day since the day I got it back in August.  The brushes are great quality, and the bristles are really soft.  I think they are synthetic but I'm not 100% sure.

This brush set contains the following brushes:

The brushes are really well constructed, and can stand up to hard use!  I can attest to that for sure.  I regularly use the shadow, smudge and blending brush, and they haven't distorted their shape or anything after being washed and used over and over again.

This set comes in the red vinyl hard case (magnetic closure) and has KVD's signature "rose" design on the case, as well as on the brushes.  It's $55 from Sephora, which is quite a deal considering that they sell just the concealer brush for $25.  Love it, highly recommended! :)

Pantene Pro-V Overnight Miracle Repair Serum

Let's start off with how Pantene describes this product:

Erases 6 Months of Damage*
Has a weightless, non-sticky creme formula.  It resurfaces hair at its weakest points and helps:
  • Restore hair from damage while you sleep for a healthy looking start each morning
  • Leave hair smooth, shiny and soft; without leaving residue on your pillow
Resurfaces hair at its weakest points.  Restores hair from damage while you sleep for healthy looking start each morning.  Leaves hair smooth, shiny and soft.  Use together with Pantene Repair & Protect Shampoo and Conditioner to visibly erase 6 months of damage.
Made in USA
*When used as a 3-part system with Repair & Protect Shampoo and Repair & Protect Conditioner.

I saw this product on TV in a 20 second commercial and did a double take...I was like wait, what...MIRACLE?!?!  yaaaaaaay yes please!

I've been using this for about a week now, so I think that I can fully attest to my opinion.  I definitely love the texture of this cream, it is definitely weightless and non-sticky as they say!  It absorbs really quickly, and leaves no residue on your clothes or pillow.  When I wake up in the morning, my hair is definitely way more manageable, WAY less frizzy, and I can pretty much brush and go!

I have NOT been using the repair & protect shampoo and conditioner, but I do use Pantene and Dove shampoos/conditioners, and have achieved great results with this.  I love this and will keep it as part of my routine.  I got mine at Rite Aid for $6.79, and there's quite a bit in the bottle, 4.9 oz.

Welp!  That concludes today's Endlessly Foxy...thankfully, tomorrow is Friday, and I hope I get to sleep this weekend!  I need MORE SLEEP.

Thanks for reading and stay super foxxxy!!!  xoxo

Revlon Superlustrous Lipstick in Temptress ~ Revlon Colorsilk Buttercream Hair Color ~ Rimmel Waterproof Gel Eyeliner

Damn, it's been awhile!!!  I'm back and badder than ever.

Today's Lipstick of the Day is...

Revlon Superlustrous Lipstick in Temptress

Alright...I want you to think about the definition of the word Temptress.  "A woman who tempts, entices & allures; A woman who sets out to seduce a man/men...a seductress; A woman who tempts someone to do something, typically a sexually attractive woman who sets out to allure or seduce someone."
Bettie Page, the original temptress!!!!!  While I'd love to be the next Bettie Page, the only thing about me that holds true to that description is this lipstick that I'm blogging about...ALAS...I DIGRESS!

When I think Temptress, I think sexy, bombshell red or fuschia.  Apparently Revlon though creamy, warm toned pink...which is okay too I GUESS.  This is a very natural pink color, with a creme luster finish that is moisturizing, and fairly pigmented.  The wear time is not that long, I'd say about 2 hours or so for me.

I think this is a really cute lip color that should be in every woman's collection :) you can get this for as cheap as $4.99 in most drugstores (some closer to $8) but there's always coupons, etc too which make buying these easy!   And hey, if the name "Temptress" kicks up your foxy level and makes you feel pretty, then why not? :)

Here are some swatches of Temptress!

A complete revolution in the world of hair my humble opinion
Revlon Colorsilk Buttercream Hair Color

I've been coloring my hair now for about 10 years. I've tried all colors, blonde, red, brown, dark brown...and then my  ultimate fav...BLACK!  The darker the better!  I have tried almost every brand out there, in an attempt to get the blackest of black hair...and I have ill feelings about most hair colors.  I've been using L'oreal Excellence for the last 3 years or so, but it burns my head something FIERCE!  Finally, I heard about this Revlon Colorsilk Buttercream hair color, and the name is alluring in itself...I got the darkest of them all, called Blue Black. (cool colored black)

Can't go wrong with the price either, at under 5 dollars a box, AWESOME.  The packaging leaves much to be desired, the gloves are shabby and you have to cut the top of the dispenser bottle off with a scissor, but I'm telling you, this is a LUXURY product inside this box.  The color feels great going on, and doesnt stink!  If any of you color your hair, then you will know that most hair colors reek of ammonia and burn your eyes and nose, and it is a crappy experience!

When I rinsed this color out of my hair, it felt SO SOFT...even before applying the conditioner!  I couldn't believe it.  And my scalp didn't burn at all!  So this is great for those of you with sensitive skin.  This didn't stain my skin, or leave any dye marks in the shower either, so I'm telling you, this is a HOME RUN.  I will be stocking up on this FOR SURE. If I was a super good blogger I would have taken before & after pics, but I didn't think it was going to be as fantastic as it is!

Rimmel Waterproof Gel Eyeliner

I love gel eyeliner!  I LOVE IT.  The only downside about it, is that it usually comes in a cute little pot, and then you gotta rummage around for a brush, make sure the brush is clean before and after, and blah blah blah.  it's a whole big thing.  Now, with this eyeliner and it's nifty packaging, the brush is actually enclosed in the top of the cute little lid:
then you screw the lid off, which reveals the cute little jar of eyeliner (which in my experience, is a FREAKIN TINY JAR.)
I was really excited about this!  A gel eyeliner with a built in brush?! SWEET.  So I tried it on, was really excited about how smooth and opaque it applied - and that little brush was surprisingly easy to use.  I finished my face and went about my day...

Well 2 hours later when I was in the restroom, I looked at myself in the mirror and there was eyeliner all over my upper lids, and running down the sides of my eyes!  WATERPROOF Gel Eyeliner?!   SON OF A BITCH!

I thought maybe I had just applied it wrong, and gave it a shot the next day, leaving extra time for it to try.  Same thing the next day.  If I had the receipt for this crap, I'd take it back, and it's a rare event that I return anything...guess this garbage is now part of my permanent collection, because I'm too stubborn to throw it out!  Luckily, it was only like 5 dollars, so I'm not out that much :)

Just for shits and giggles, I did a little experiment.  On the back of my hand I made a thick line of eyeliner (about 2 coats, on the left) and a thin layer of liner (on the right, one coat) and I let both dry for 10 minutes.  After 10 minutes, I ran my finger up and down...and here's the results.
What I'd like to do is flush this straight down the toilet, but I'm determined to come up with SOME use for it...ugh.  Buyer may work for some people, doesn't work for me though!  Keep your receipt of you pick this one up.

I've got a lot of great stuff to write about in the upcoming days, I've added numerous things to my stockpile, as well as a few great vintage luxury items that I am SO SUPER EXCITED about!

OCC Lip Tar in Memento ~ MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation

Thursdays are always weird...for some reason I was in a super good mood today!

Today's Lipstick of the Day is...
Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar in Memento

Memento is a really nice neutral, pinky peach that is perfect for spring :) I've sang the praises of OCC's Lip Tar's in the past (see my post about Black Dahlia) so I'll keep it short.
OCC's Lip Tars go on with just a PIN POINT of color - they are buildable, but need time to dry in between applicatoins.  They go on really wet like a gloss, but dry down to a lovely satin finish :)

Here are some swatches of Memento! :)
Memento is a nice addition to anyone's collection.  They also last FOREVER because you just need a drop.  They are $16 a tube, and you can get them from Sephora and Amazon :)

Moving right along...let's talk Foundation!
MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation

MAC describes this foundation as:

"A luxurious, creamy foundation that delivers ultimate hydration while instantly revitalizing the look of dull and dry skin. Innovative gel-based system provides outstanding skin feel and a medium, buildable coverage with a natural satin finish. Micronized silicone coated pigments improve skin adherence and blendability while helping to maintain colour purity. Offers broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection with SPF 15. Comfortable on all skins, but especially suited for normal-dry and mature skins."

I am wearing this foundation in all the pictures featured in today's post.   I have this in the color NC25, for reference.  I do like this foundation, but it's not my favorite.  It is really good for dry skin, because it tends to not bring attention to flaky areas, even toning them down a bit.  Because of the gel-based formula, it goes on really smooth, and is definitely buildable without getting cakey too fast.  It is definitely hydrating, I don't feel that it gets flaky or weird throughout the day, which is a plus - and you can build this up to full coverage, for sure.

Here are some swatches of MAC Studio Sculpt in NC25:
straight from the tube
As you can see, it definitely evens out the ton of the skin and leaves a nice satin finish, which is what most people love about this foundation.

You can get this at any department store that sells MAC, and also online at but I got mine from a store that discounts cosmetics sold under Estee Lauder, and I think it was called Amazing Cosmetics or something, they are usually at outlet malls.

On a side note, I was really super excited today to nab Stila's 10-in-1 BB cream for only $20!  It's usually $38 so I was totally stoked to get it.  I've had boatloads of deluxe samples of this stuff, and blown through them all, so I'm really excited to have it, and be able to review it for you guys soon :)

Well, I am absolutely freezing, so I think I'll go have a spot of Tea...

OK well maybe not with Billy Corgan, but hey...a girl can dream :)

Endlessly Foxy is almost up to 2000 views...thank you guys so much xoxo.  Thanks for reading!!!

Illamasqua Apocalips ~ Benefit Fine One One ~ More Powder Compact Drooling

Today's Lipstick of the Day is SUPER SPECIAL to me!
Apocalips by Illamasqua!

OMG.  I was obsessed with this lipstick from the first time I saw it, because it totally blew my  mind.  TEAL LIPSTICK!?  Sounds crazy, I know, but there's an idea behind it.  The inverse of this color is a reddish orange, which is widely accepted as a beautiful and attractive color.  So the idea is that your brain will accept this color as beautiful also :)
Illamasqua describes this as a Teal, with a matte finish.  That is correct, the finish is entirely matte, and the color is a true teal.  The formula is very dry, and takes awhile to apply correctly, but does leave very opaque coverage.  It really lasts a long time, it will go on and on, and leave a bluish teal stain on your lips, too!

I actually HAD to have this lipstick for one reason: Smashing Pumpkins Oceania Tour!!!!  I had an entire teal outfit going on, and I was dead set on having this lipstick on my face, while singing every word to this album (they played it front to back!) and long story short...I  DID! :)  The cover of the album is what made me realize my true love for everything TEAL!
Love it?  Hate it?  Apocalips is not for everyone, and definitely not the faint of heart :) this is a color that you have to love to wear :) and I do!  Here are some more swatches! :)

Love it?  Unfortunately, nowhere in the United States sells this color at the time :( Stupid, right?  Sephora does carry Illamasqua, but not this color inparticular.  If it's this color inparticular that you're after, you have to order it directly from Illamasqua UK, and it's $25.40 after the GBP conversion.  You'll have to pay shipping as well, of course.  Totally worth it in my  mind!!!!  I love this color.  I don't wear it often, but every time I do, I love the way I look!

NEXT UP...girl's best friend...
Benefit's Fine One One!

Beauty Emergency Anyone!?!?  NO PROBLEM, just dial Fine-One-One to dispatch assistance!

Benefit describes this as:

What it is:
A sheer, brightening cheek-and-lip color for instant lift, shape, and pop.

What it does:
Having a beauty emergency? Call Fine-One-One! This lip-and-cheek illuminator glides on sheer in three different shades for a coral pink flush that builds from soft and natural to bright and cheery.  Glide from the apple of your cheek to your temple…then blend with fingertips in an upward circular motion.

And there you have it, it's really just that easy.  You can also use this on your lips too.  It's a little drying on lips, but I do think that in a pinch it would work well, as long as your lips are moisturized and exfoliated.

Here are some swatches!
product, with flash
applied from tube
on lips

And there you have it!  I really do think it would be a great quick-fix to take around in your purse, it's a nice pop of color, and adds a nice flush.  This costs $30 at Sephora, Ulta, etc - a little pricey in my opinion, but it's a nice fun thing to have.

On a closing note...

My sister Kelsey sent me a text yesterday bragging about her new gold compact from Besame, which is reusable (like my guerlain) and holds an awesome powder...I looked it up today, and now I'm jealous and I WANT MY OWN!
She says the powder inside is awesome, I think that this compact is so damn cute!!!  Besame describes it as:

Silky soft powder foundation that offers smooth, flawless coverage are available. Choose from porcelain, light, medium dark and new translucent violet.
    • Gives skin a luminous radiance with natural mica, without adding shimmer
    • Enriched with anti-aging vitamin C
    • Goes on matte and adheres beautifully to your skin
    • Protects from the sun with natural zinc and titanium dioxide
    • Long-lasting velvety finish with medium coverage
    • Paraben-free

Holy crap, looks like someone might be owning a new powder compact soon!
